Preparing your Child for a Hospital Visit

Preparing a child or teen for a hospital experience is essential. It will help to reduce their fear of the unknown as well as promote important coping skills that will be needed for the experience. It will also support long-term adjustment in the event of future hospital experiences.

Another way to help prepare your child for a hospital stay is to have him/her bring any school work that can be worked on in a class session with the hospital teacher either bedside or in the hospital classroom. Keeping normalcy to a routine can be essential in the healing process and the PMCH School Program is happy to help!
