Our Pediatric Intensive Care (PICUI) team is known for our “Caring Spirit.”
All of the Pediatric ICU physicians are board-certified Pediatricians and board-certified in Pediatric Critical Care by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Your child’s PICU team also includes:
- Registered nurses, certified in pediatric critical care nursing
- ECMO specialists
- PICU specific respiratory therapists
- Child Life Specialists and Creative Arts Therapy
Our extended team
Child Life Specialists (CLS) visit our patients daily and sometimes at specific times when a procedure or test is being done. Using distracted play techniques, humor, and entertaining activities, these Child Life Specialists promote a healing environment for the patient and family members. Creative Arts Therapy (art, music and dance) and in some cases pet therapy, are some of the special activities brought to the bedside by the Child Life Specialist.
Radiologists and staff specializing in pediatric medical imaging

Pediatric Supportive Care provided by a Palliative Care Medicine physician and a dedicated pediatric registered nurse.
If your child is in the PICU following a kidney/pancreas transplant, the St.Vincent Transplant Program physicians and coordinators will work closely with the PICU team and provide specific care instructions.
All Pediatric ICU staff associates are certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit consistently earns very high patient satisfaction scores.
